Madria Leekya / Leekya Deyuse Family - Gemstone Inlay Silver  Bracelet

While this bracelet is New and was made in 1998.  It is a Replica of a the 1925 Zuni bracelet made by Leekya Deyuse for CG Wallace.

It was admired throughout the land and still is. The design is timeless.

This example of the family art was made by Leekya's  Great Granddaughter, Madria.

Leekya was the creator of this bracelet it was first made around 1925. It added an exciting new opportunity for the artist to add a new way to express his visions and  feelings.  Leekya at the same time introduced  inlay which made it possible to weave gemstones into art.

The result was the start of a beautiful string of art that gave as a n opportunity to see Life a new way.  The Inlay of Jesse Monongye, Carl and Irene Clark, Frank Vacit to name a few... but there are so many others who give us great art using gem inlay...

The influence of European art and jewelry first made an impact on Southwest Native American silversmiths circa 1920's.  It occurred in Zuni with CG Wallace and his Zuni Trading Post.

Two of Wallace's top artists Leekya Deyuse and Dan Simplicio often collaborated.  It was a natural fit, Leekya's lapidary combined with Simplicio's silver work.

This piece was produced circa 1998 by Madria Leekya, Leekya Deyuse's granddaughter.  Madria made it true to the original design and techniques (Swiss Watchmaker Files) of the 1920's - 1930's.

Each gemstone is set in its own silver channel.  This is a rare chance to acquire a new,  unworn, wonderful vintage Zuni bracelet.

It is 1" wide.

It is for a 6 1/4" - 6 1/2" wrist. It can not be adjusted.

The Gemstones include: Sleeping Beauty Turquoise, Red Coral, Pink Mussel Shell, Mother of Pearl and Jet
