Description

Elliot Qualo Apache Mountain Spirit (Ghost) Dancer Belt Buckle

Extremely fine mosaic inlay (stone against stone without the benefit of silver channels).

Circa 1960's

The Apache Spirit Dancer is an important part of Southwest history. Ghost Dancer is a healer.

It is said that it was at the center of the Apache revolts and the Geronimo wars.

Mosaic Inlay of Turquoise, Coral, Fossil Ivory, Mother of Pearl and Tortoise Shell...  all set in Silver

Excellent Condition... there are a few hairline scratches that are barely noticeable upon very close examination.

Elliot Qualo is recognized as one of the finest Zuni silversmiths ever. Qualo's work is collected world wide. Be careful of imitations and copies. They definitely are not the same as this.

I never saw another.

One look at this buckle and it is clear it is an original Qualo made early in his career. Notice the hand hammered silver, the finely hand constructed belt fittings, the beautiful design and inlay... all made without the benefit of electric tools.

The belt buckle measures 3" x 2 1/2"
