Sugalite in a Silver Bracelet by Albert Lee

New

Albert Lee -  Alfred Lee and  Chuck Lee present a rare, Gel Sugalite gemstone set in a Silver Bracelet all handmade by Albert Lee and Sons.

The best Sugalite is a beautiful purple that is translucent with a deep purple color. Inside the stone it often appears like a hologram... another world seems to appear.

This Sugalite is from Africa and is no longer available. The mine opened and quickly closed, it would appear that there wasn't much Sugalite there to begin with.

Sugalite is also called Royal Lavulite. There are grades of Sugalite. The best Sugalite is called "Gel" because of its translucent appearance... light travels through the gem and in the process the Sugalite seems liquid... it has a glow or brilliance about it which is often called Zat.

Albert Lee and his sons, Alfred and Chuck, are internationally known for their very fine Navajo jewelry. Both the lapidary and the settings are completely handmade by them.  I know of no one else who makes this style jewelry from such heavy silver.

Bending and working with thick gauge silver like this is much like trying to bend iron.

The essentials of this design first appeared Circa 1920 / 1930.  Back then it was crudely made from light silver. The Lee's have elevated this design to contemporary art / jewelry.

With the superb, silver work from Albert and Alfred and the stunning lapidary from Chuck you get magic.

The gemstone alone measures 1 1/4" x 3/4"

The bracelet will fit 6 1/4" to a 6 1/2" wrist.

It has a 1 1/16" opening
