Thomas Curtis
Navajo Vintage Design Silver Bracelets

The Vintage Thomas Curtis Silver bracelet pictured
above is set against a photo of
early Navajo silver bracelets from the book Southwest Silver Jewelry, by Paula Baxter.
The bracelets in the book are from the 1880's to the 1940's. The main difference between
Thomas' Vintage Silver Bracelets and those made at the turn of the last century is the silver.
Early bracelets were made from Silver Coins and Ingots. Sheet silver is used today.
Commercially made sheet silver was not available in the early days. Also, laws
have been passed prohibiting
the destruction of US Coinage.
Thomas Curtis makes his own dies,
one of the few silversmiths to do that. Most
silversmiths buy commercially manufactured die sets. Hence, the unique
look to Thomas' jewelry.
