It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gibson Nez.
 Gibson led a full and exciting life. He touched the lives of many people.
 Long after those who knew him are gone he will still be remembered
 through his powerful jewelry.

Barton Wright describes Gibson this way, "Silversmith that specializes
 in big bold designs with fine inlay... chisel work... traditional designs....
self taught... began in 1976.... stuntman, heavy equipment operator...
 Cowboy Hall of Fame... Bronc Rider."

Gibson was featured in the April 1979 Arizona Highways Jewelry
Collectors Edition. In it, Gibson talks about his jewelry this way...
"I really polish it to get all the fire scale off... I've heard people say
 that my work is precast by machine... it's too perfect. I do it all
 by myself.... I love fine turquoise, If I see a fine piece of #8
 I just have to have it."

Gibson Nez's art is both traditional and abstract. His belt buckles carry
 designs that go back to the very beginning of Southwest silversmithing.
 Gibson also cuts and polishes his own gemstones.
