In my
opinion, Danny Romero's great talent is highly underestimated
and has yet to receive the recognition he rightly deserves. His work
... art is original and so well balanced. Over the past 30 years he
has known and hung with the greats of Indian jewelry.
Charles Lolama, Preston and Jesse Monongye,
Carl Clark, are to name but a few.
Danny Romero
(who is a Yaqui Indian) is best known for his
original design, tufa cast jewelry and his use of turquoise,
coral, lapis and other fine gemstones to create jewelry
that appears as an abstract painting.

Large, colorful gemstones are set in jewelry so as to create an
abstract
portrait or scene... as might be seen in a
Fritz Scholder or John Nieto painting.
Danny tells the story of how this idea started out as a favor
for painter, friend John
Nieto.
To literally paint jewelry... to set in silver large gem stones,
as if the silver
was the canvas and the gemstones were the palette.
The idea gathered interest and now these masterpieces
are collected throughout the world.
Danny is also known for his cast pieces. They are originally
made in Tufa stone and then the finished piece is
investment cast to keep prices moderate.
These are very heavy silver with deep,
artistic incising and all carry
Danny's
Sunburst
hallmark.
