Anthony Lovato specializes in the ancient Tufa Cast process.
Few living silversmiths are capable of Anthony's level of
tufa casting. His work is equal to the legendary
Charles Lolama and Preston Monongye.
You may ask what makes great tufa cast jewelry??
Deep and perfect casting... original and balanced designs
are but two reasons.
I should add that Anthony's choice of natural turquoise
and other gemstones compliment his designs
quite well.
People are sometimes curious about the cloudlike silver
that is attached to some of Anthony's larger jewelry. These
are casting remnants that Anthony allowed to remain
there.
He does this for both aesthetics and as proof that
the
jewelry was tufa cast and not investment cast which
is a completely different process that is used to
mass produce jewelry. Literally thousands of
identical pieces can be investment
or spin
cast.
However, the tufa cast process permits only ONE
piece to be made before the tufa cast
mold becomes unusable.
