Vintage Zuni Inlay Jewelry

Vintage Zuni Inlay Jewelry , the Zuni are famous for their fine inlay jewelry. Complex, silver channel designs are inlaid with turquoise, coral, shell and other gemstones. The stones and shells are cut precisely fit the channels... the goal is to have the inlay appear seamless. The original innovators of Zuni mosaic inlay (stone against stone) was Teddy Weahkee. Leo Poblano, Frank Vacit and Elizabeth Leekya's inlay is called channel inlay. Zuni Channel Inlay began in the 1920's with the help of CG Wallace and his Zuni Pueblo Trading Post. Zuni inlay is still popular today, almost a hundred years later.
